With “good” qualifications becoming the “norm”, students need to develop a wider sense of employability skills in order to stand out and get that dream job. Cultural capital is where you are able to talk about a variety of things, places visited, films, etc., and at Olympus we believe that developing this side of education is just as important. This is why, as part of our project based learning sessions, we took Year 12 students to London.
Stops included Trafalgar Square, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, and Leicester Square. Students were able to take in the culture our capital has to offer, including the famous fourth plinth, a selfie scavenger hunt and live entertainment in Leicester Square.
“The cultural day is always a great way to end the academic year. It helps students to move out of their comfort zone and broadens their horizons to the world around them.” – Lesley Elson, Post 16 Administrator.
