Current Year’s 10, 11 and 12 students

Monday to Friday

2nd July 2018 – 6th July 2018 and 9th July 2018 – 13th July 2018

9:00am to 16:30pm

Engineering Taster Week is an educational and enjoyable event intended to provide students with experience of real world engineering. Students will embark on a challenging week-long project intended to develop their team working skills, leadership qualities and engineering expertise. We aim to provide an insight into the engineering that goes on locally, at the BAE Systems Rochester site, as well as providing valuable skills and experience that will serve the students well in future applications and endeavours. One benefit of the week experience is opening student’s eyes to the variety of careers within STEM beyond those they will have already heard of. As well as this the experience will help all students learn about the different paths to a career in this sector and opportunities that are available within the company that will apply to them specifically including post-secondary apprenticeships, internships, placements and post graduate opportunities.

Engineering Taster Week 2018 will be the fourteenth consecutive event at Rochester. Over the years, this week has proven to be a resounding success. Year on year students complete the week enthused about engineering with 100% of students saying they would recommend the week to a friend. Due to overwhelming demand, we have recently increased the capacity of the event to run two weeks in succession.

Due to the limited number of places available and the popularity of the event, a formal application process will be used to select participants. Students are encouraged to apply promptly once the application form opens as the event is offered to many schools in the area.

The student application window will be opening at the end of January.
