The Leigh UTC has a clear vision to be a distinctive education provider for outstanding STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning.  Our newly built centre of excellence opened in September 2014 to students across the region offering a personalised curriculum, which emphasises the practical application of academic and technical learning. We continue to develop the next generation of ‘world class’ engineers and computer scientists by inspiring them passionately through a diverse curriculum delivered by a combination of Higher Education sector staff, business entrepreneurs and UTC staff.

We guarantee that our students will become accustomed to always expecting the very best and the unexpected. We offer our students a superb education in state-of-the-art facilities that will give you the specialist skills, knowledge and experience to have a successful career in the computer science or engineering sectors. We also do things a little differently to normal schools or colleges because we believe the best and most effective way to educate our students is to always make our teaching more hands on.

The application process for sixth form places has opened. We advise you to apply as soon as possible.  You can find more info about the academy on the “Book a Visit” section. Tours also available by appointment every Wednesday afternoon.

Since opening in 2014 both staff and students have worked passionately to create a centre of excellence for technical qualifications.
